Jacob Elcock and Hannah Jacobs

Married

There is an entry in the IGI indices for the marriage of a Jacob Elcock and a Hannah Jacobs on the 14th December 1809 Hursley, Hampshire, England. Although this link is a bit conjectural it seems a highly likely match given the place and the time.

Husband:   Jacob Elcock

Born: 1787
Died: 1833
Father: Joseph Elcock
Mother: Rachel Sims

Occupation: Baker
Records kept by Tylee Mortimer and Attlee of Romsey, solicitors, seem to suggest that Jacob Elcock died in 1833.

I have a copy of the will now, which despite being very hard to read, does seem to suggest Jacob was a baker as well.

The will records that Jacob was a baker from Hursley, Hampshire. His wife Hannah and son John are both mentioned as benefactors in the will.

Wife:   Hannah Jacobs

Born: 1788
Died: 1869
Father:
Mother:

Records kept by Tylee Mortimer and Attlee of Romsey, solicitors, seem to suggest that Hannah died in 1869.

Male  Child 1:   John Elcock

Born: 1820
Died: 1882
Spouse: Sarah Hoskins
Children: Kate Elcock, Harry Elcock, Alfred Elcock, William John Elcock, Angelina Elcock

Occupation: Baker
Aged 50 at the time of the 1871 census. His occupation is entered as "Journeyman Baker", and his place of birth Hursley.

Aged 60 at the time of the 1881 census. Place of birth is recorded as Hursley.

There is an entry in the GRO indices for the death of a John Elcock in Jul/Aug/Sep 1882 in Romsey (volume 2c page 35). This is a possible match given that John does not seem to be present in the 1891 census, but does seem slightly less likely as the age at death appears to be 67. This may be a transcription error of course (were it actually 61, it would fit quite well).
