Comments: There is an entry in the GRO indices for Apr/May/Jun 1875 for the birth of an Alfred Milliner (Sheppey, volume 2a page 792).
Aged 5 at the time of the 1881 census. His birthplace was recorded as Sheerness, Kent.
At the time of the 1891 census, aged 15, he is living with his mother and his occupation is entered as Milkman.
By the time of the 1901 census, he appears to have left the family home. An Alfred Milner, aged 26, appears in the 1901 census as a lodger in a lodging house in London (97 Old Street). Although his place of birth is entered as London this may have been an error, as many of the other lodgers are somewhat routinely entered as having been born in London. His occupation is hard to read, but could well be Milkman, fitting with the earlier entry. One census transcription has this entry transcribed with the occupation as "Mason". As part of the form is obscured, either could esily fit.
Parents: Mark Samuel Milliner, Sarah Rickwood
