Michael Hogan Male

Born: 1828
Died:

Occupation: Groom, and later "Master Bootmaker"

Comments: His age is entered as 35 at the time of the 1871 census, and his surname looks more like Hogin than Hogan. His occupation is entered as Groom.

His age is recorded as 51 at the time of the 1881 census, his birthplace is recorded as Ireland. His occupation is entered as Domestic Servant (Stableman).

Aged 62 at the time of the 1891 census, at which time is marital status is entered as widower, so Elizabeth must have died by this time. Here his occupation is entered as road labourer, and his place of birth entered as Ireland (Queen's County).

Michael's Family

Spouse: Elizabeth (Married)
Children: Daniel Hogan, Patrick Hogan, Bridget Hogan, John Hogan, Mary Jane Hogan, Thomas Hogan, Elizabeth Charlotte Hogan, Blanche Hannah Hogan
Michael and Elizabeth's three eldest children were born in Ireland, whilst the five youngest were born on Jersey. It therefore seems likely that the couple moved from Ireland to Jersey some time between 1864 and 1867.

At the time of the 1871 census, the family were living at either 24, 26 or 28 St. Saviour('s) Road, St. Helier. The family name appears to have been entered as Hogin than Hogan.

At the time of the 1881 census, the family were living at 2 Royal Crescent Cotys (presumably an abbreviation for cottages), St. Helier.

At the time of the 1891 census, the family appear to be residing at 98, Kensington Place, St. Helier.
