Some wine arrived in the daytime, between heavy rain showers. In the evening I went for a stroll to the heath to catch the sunset.

Finally pulled the fridge freezer out of its cabinet today, first step towards replacing it. Later on a stroll to the heath, then a visit to the Pineapple.

Chie and Erika flew off to Japan for the summer holidays today, I took them to the airport in the afternoon and waved them off there. Once back in London I headed more or less straight to the Pineapple where I spent most of the rest of the evening.

Went for lunch at the Pineapple, then played with the paddling pool in the back garden later in the afternoon, as it was rather a hot day.

Walked to Brent Cross in the morning to meet Erika after she finished her Japanese school. In the afternoon went for lunch at a friend of Chie's in the far flung reaches of North London, although I neglected to take any photos while there. In the evening Lebanese food back at home.

Finally some ripe blueberries in the garden! Also went for a late evening stroll to the heath after Erika went to bed.

The whole country seemed to be obsessed with watching a bunch of grown men running round a field propelling a spherical object with their feet this evening. I wanted to get as far away from the madness as I easily could, so went to the heath.

Had a surprisingly nice day out, considering we didn't decide what to do until the morning. We drove to Haringey first, for Cig Kofte (a Turkish dish I had been learning about at work recently) and Gozleme for lunch. Then from there we motored to Epping Forest - the first time we'd been there - for a wander around, and a coffee / hot chocolate break in Loughton Camp, a Bronze Age hill fort.

Bumped into Jeremy this afternoon, whi I hadn't seen for a while, and we arranged to go for a late evening drink on the heath which turned out to be rather delightful.

Received a parcel of lightweight outdoors stuff today, ordered in preparation for summer walking expeditions. This included a new lighter weight / higher capacity backpack, an ultralight weight sleeping quilt (alternative to a conventional sleeping bag) and an ultra lightweight / compact insulated jacket filled with "Aerogel" - the lightest solid substance known to man, apparently.

Took the day off, to go and watch Erika's sports day in the morning, and spent the rest of the day tracing the course of the river Fleet, which runs (mostly underground) from Hampstead Heath to the Thames at Blackfriars.
