SundayPosted on 2009/10/24 08:48:02 (October 2009). [Sunday 18th October]
Similar sort of format to Saturday - stayed in all morning and most of the afternoon, enjoying home comforts - lots of tea and cake. Specifically we ate some of the Baumkuchen I had brought back for Chie from Japan. It was surprisingly delicious.
Towards the end of the afternoon we thought we should head out, and at the back of my mind I was thinking it would be nice to find somewhere for a Sunday roast for dinner. Alas it seems nowhere in London we could find really makes any kind of effort on Sunday roasts when it comes to vegetarians, so after a very long stroll we ended up in Holborn and decided to just cut our losses and head home.

I have to say John, I don't really get this thing about "Baumkuchen".. Being in Japan I know how popular it is here, but I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. To me its just sponge cake and not all that much to write home about.. When I arrived here some friends gave me some with my cup of tea in such a way that you'd think they'd just given me the winning lotto numbers.. It was, how can I say.. "Nice". But nice was just what it was, nothing more.. Maybe I just have an uneducated palette.. Can you enlighten me to what all the fuss is about please?..
