10:05. The view from outside Chie's family home, onto a schoolyard in front. I was impressed by how neatly these kids were lined up. |
10:05. Chie tying her shoelaces at the family home's front door. |
11:52. Today Chie's Dad had taken the day off work to take us to the countryside. |
12:08. From the top of the mountain, although slightly obscured by trees, the view was quite magnificent. |
12:08. Too many islands to count in the distance. |
12:08. ...I don't have a clue what any of them are called either! |
12:09. ...more of the same... |
12:09. ...and more still. |
12:09. Chie, her Dad and Kana from the observation point. |
12:10. Must have been on self timer. |
12:11. Hmmm not so sure what the point of this is! |
12:11. ...and again! |
12:12. Oh, maybe the last two were me trying to get the camera lined up for this one...? |
12:12. Chie with a spectacular view behind her. |
12:14. Just in case you've not seen the view yet... |
12:14. At times like this being able to take as many pictures as you want isn't always a good thing! |
12:14. ...and that view again! |
12:14. If I was clever, I could probably edit the trees out. |
12:15. Lovely grin sweetheart. |
12:16. I think at this point I was averaging about two pictures a minute. |
12:16. Ermmm...? |
12:17. I seem to have terrible hair here, and the lighting is disappointing. Oh well. |
12:18. Battling against the sun a bit here. |
12:19. ...and again... |
12:20. OK, the last view from that observation point before we head back to the car. |
12:30. On the way to the car, Chie tried a variety of head dresses. |
12:31. Hmmm... interesting darling. |
12:37. More Carp. |
12:37. They're big on Carp in Japan. |
12:38. A mountain lake. |
12:38. I quite like this picture actually. |
12:39. Mini coopers get everywhere. |
12:53. Another viewpoint halfway down the mountain - actually if anything I think the view was better from here. |
12:54. You can just about make out a blue suspension bridge on the right hand side here. |
12:56. Chie, myself and Kana. |
12:56. Lots of nice greenery. |
12:57. Chie looks out to sea. |
12:57. The bridge again. Reminded me of the Severn Bridge. |
13:01. Chie and her Dad. |
13:01. I took this picture because I'm always secretly amused my solar powered lights. However, the great thing about it is there's a mosquito in it, on the right hand side, about half way up. |
13:03. Chie goes oggy raiding again - although these cherries were probably poisonous. |
13:03. Noooooooooooo! |
14:21. Back in the car again, driving along a coastal road. Chie liked this little island here... |
14:21. ...so much so... |
14:21. ...that I seem to have taken three pictures of it! |
16:02. The electric goods company ran by Chie's Dad's friends (in fact Kazunori is his name if I recall coorectly). |
17:08. On the way back to Hiroshima, we drove through a farming area. I'd never got close to a paddy field before, so we stopped briefly and I took a couple of pictures. |
17:08. Apparently, the Japanese name for paddy field is Tambo. |
17:09. You can just about make out a woman working in the field here - in the near field, on the left hand side of the grass verge that separates the field from the road. I did want to take a picture of her up close but was a little too embarassed to ask. |
17:10. One last picture of the field before driving off. |
18:27. I think I just liked the sign here - an unhappy looking traing and a worried looking car. |
19:57. Back at Chie's family's flat again. Her mum made Okonomiyaki for dinner - the Hiroshima version with noodles in. Absolutely delicious. |
19:57. Chie with a plate of Konyaku (devil's tongue), which is often used as a vegetarian alternative to Sashimi. |
19:58. Kana digs into her okonomiyaki with the special tool. |
