Married
There seems to be some difficulty in writing the family's name - it is often indexed incorrectly (for example Deviell).
Husband:
John De Viell Born: 1815 Died: 1901 Father: Mother: John seems to be missing from the 1851 census when he would have been aged about 34 or 35, despite the rest of his family being there. Aged 44 at the time of the 1861 census. Here his name is entered as John Jr. His occupation is entered as mason, and his place of birth Devon, Bradninch. Aged 55 at the time of the 1871 census, his place of birth is entered as Bradninch. His occupation is entered as Mason. His age appears to have been entered as 75 at the time of the 1891 census. Here his place of birth is entered as Devon Bradninch. His occupation is entered as Mason and his marital status widowed. Aged 85 at the time of the 1901 census, his place of birth is entered as "Devon, Bradninch", and his occupation entered as "retired mason". There is an entry in the GRO indices for the death of a John De Viell aged 85, in Jul/Aug/Sep 1901 in St. Thomas, Devon (volume 5b, page 35). There are two mentions in the census returns for another John Deviell who is likely to be John's father. John Deviell (senior) appears in both the 1851 cenus (aged 68) and in the 1871 census (aged 78), at both times living in Exwick, St. Thomas. |
