Back to London
[Friday 29th July 2016]
Said our goodbyes in the morning, drove our hire car back to Truro (with one last crossing on the King Harry Ferry), then got the train from there back to London.

St. Mawes
[Thursday 28th July 2016]
Last full day of the holiday. Dithered over what to do for most of the daytime, ending up spending most of it just hanging around the house, and eventually going out toward the end of the afternoon to St. Mawes, where we had dinner.

Portscatho
[Wednesday 27th July 2016]
Showed Erika some places from my childhood holidays - had lunch at the Boathouse restaurant which, in a former incarnation as Captain Cook's we'd eaten at something like 30 years ago. Also took Erika to the famous little beach outside Portscatho where me and Adrian had buried Dad's shoes (only ever to recover one of them). In the evening Dad did a Barbecue back at the house.

Tuesday in Cornwall
[Tuesday 26th July 2016]
Went for a morning outing to St. Anthony's Head, the highlight of which for me was a cup of tea and a scone from the ThirsTea Company at nearby Porth. Spent the remainder of the day in and around the house - the girls played with a tent in the garden, and also with some lego.

"Fun Park"
[Monday 25th July 2016]
Owing to a bit of a miscommunication, we went to a "fun park" today, thinking Jessica et al would be there, but it turned out they had gone somewhere else instead. We attempted to have "fun" regardless.

Pandora and Crabbing
[Sunday 24th July 2016]
Got the King Harry Ferry, and went to the Pandora Inn for lunch. There, we picked up a bug for crabbing, which was to be a running theme throughout the rest of the holiday. Obviously I made sure they were all safely returned to the water.

Beach
[Saturday 23rd July 2016]
First full day of the holiday, and forecast to be the only properly summery day, so we wasted no time heading straight to the beach at Portscatho.

Last Day of Term
[Thursday 21st July 2016]
My last day at work before our holiday in Cornwall. Took it rather easy having worked a couple of late evenings earlier in the week - lunch at the new pizza place in Belgravia, then left a bit early for a quick drink at my club before going home.

King's Cross Office Again
[Tuesday 19th July 2016]
I decided to work from the new King's Cross office in the daytime, and then took Al back there later in the evening after an initial pint at the Pineapple in Kentish Town for Negronis on the roof terrace.

Hornets and Mandilli di Seta
[Saturday 9th July 2016]
Went to Hornets in Kensington to buy a vintage tailcoat for the Chap Olympiad in the morning. In the evening I was absolutely determined to try and recreate something like the excellent mandilli di seta we'd had in Genoa two years ago, so made my own.
