A friend at work was returning from the Netherlands today, and we'd together concocted a plan to try making Negronis with genever rather than gin. Actually as it turned out she brought back two bottles, one an aged genever, the other actually a gin, but crucially heavy on the orange in the botanicals. Orange has this natural affinity with Campari, and I recall there being some fruit flavoured genevers from my last trip to Amsterdam so I'd suggested she look out for something like this.
So at TGIF we made Negronis with the Dutch orange gin - it worked really well I think.
