Tuesday in HiroshimaPosted on 2013/06/01 06:58:58 (June 2013). [Tuesday 28th May 2013]
Chie's Dad went into hospital today, in preparation for the operation which would be on Thursday.
Did a bit of shopping in the afternoon, including buying a couple of books for Erika. I'm quite impressed by how sophisticated some of the offerings for children are in Japanese bookshops. A lot of the "books" are in fact elecronic musical toys. There was a whole range of them, from the slightly less surprising drum kits and tambourines, to things like the dashboard of a shinkansen, with accompanying sound effects. We got Erika a toy smartphone, as she always seems quite interested in ours (probably because she sees us using them so often). IT's a lot more sophisticated then anything you'd be likely to find in the UK - different sequences of numbers start different conversations which you can then interact with. We also bought her a more traditional sort of pop-up book type thing, which again is impressively intricate and detailed.
Also bought some ingredients for the Thai curry I made in the evening.
