[Thursday 6th December 2012]
In the evening we went to the Salvation Army carol service in the gardens. I think we've been meaning to go along to this for several years, but never seem to have managed before. Somehow now that Erika has arrived we feel a stronger compulsion to attend wholesome activities like this.
The weather wasn't particularly nice - it was raining and quite cold - so the band and most of the audience huddled under a sort of loggia out in the gardens. It was cramped but still very nice - other residents of the square were handing out hot chocolate and mince pies, which was very kind of them. Maybe it was just because of the cold damp weather but the hot chocolate in particular was quite delicious.
