| Whisky WednesdayPosted on 2009/09/19 10:06:21 (September 2009). [Wednesday 16th September]
After hearing about last week's Whisky Wednesday, my friend Mick from the office had expressed a keen interest in visiting the Whisky Society, and I was only too pleased to oblige.

Whilst in the area, I decided we should also go to Fabrizio's again, as that had been rather good last week, and as Mick hadn't seen it before I thought a quick introductory visit to Ye Old Mitre was very much in order.

The whiskies were of course very good as always - the star of the show being a classically "prawn cocktail crisps" style heavily peated yet very elegant Caol Ila - the 53.131. Superb.

If I were to buy a bottle of that whisky, would it keep long once opened? (I intend to have it for visitors)

I have similar whiskies I've had open for more than two years and are still drinkable - they will gradually lose their flavour over time, but particularly with a really powerful malt like that it ought to still have something noteworthy left even after a couple of years.
