Monday Night KaraokePosted on 2006/01/31 13:14:54 (January 2006). [Monday 30th January]
A work night out which was quite fun. Went out in the region of the station nearest to my office. Ate lots of garlicy food at a bar/restaurant place, and then went for the now mandatory bout of karaoke. I hesitate to say I sung well, but I did actually receive a round of applause after each performance, and was later complimented on my singing as we were leaving. I guess this is down to the fact that I have had a lot of practice now, and have got to know the songs I can just about manage. Me and my favourite drinking colleague have developed something of an act between us over the past couple of months, and we've got the whole routine down to a fairly fine art.
One particular feature of tonight's performance was an emphasis on changing the words of the songs to make embarassing nerdy work related in-jokes. Unfortunately it would be somewhat futile to attempt to re-produce any of these here, as without the context they would fall somewhat flat on their face. However, let me just say that I am somewhat indebted to message board regular and former colleague Jimmy, for having shared with me his timeless classic "Killing me softly with DShow" - for better or worse I believe I am now the undisputed king of nerdy in-jokes within my team.

So, now you're the undisputed king of nerdy-in-jokes across two countries? Not bad.
Unfortunately, this high status is countered by being the undisputed Serf of making bets with Tim.

Surely John has a popular BLog. It attracts spammers and all sorts of spam related things, so it means that it must be easly "findable" over the net...

I have deleted all the unwanted comments but it was not easy! My internet connection at home is still really crap, so the greymatter page which lets me delete comments kept failing to load as it was too big!
In the end I had to resort to FTPing and hand editing the files. Pain in the arse, but I have as a result worked out an easy way to automate these deletions.
