Made dinner for the girls - Porcini risotto with grilled asparagus, black truffle and shavings of parmesan. I was rather pleased with it to be honest, although as ever the truffles did not quite provide the level of gastronomic ecstacy I was hoping for. I am becoming quietly convinced that there is in fact some kind of conspiracy afoot, and the sorts of legendary truffles that make grown men weep either don't exist, or are just never made available to the likes of me. Finished off my bottle of Caol Ila 12 year old after dinner, and was reminded what an utterly fantastic whisky this is - in fact this is quite possibly my favourite Islay malt at the moment.
