Spring CleaningPosted on 2005/01/04 09:22:01 (January 2005). [Monday 3rd January]
It's been a funny sort of day, as Arkwright would have put it. Despite it being a bank holiday, I did actually have to pop into the office in the morning, as the alarm was going off. Somehow a bird had got inside and was flying around frantically trying to get out. I found a towel came in very handy for picking the little fellow up, and took him outside to let him fly off, which was a surprisingly pleasing experience.
Upon returning home I was feeling all virtuous and diligent so decided it would be a good time to take out the Christmas tree. Unfortunately, whilst I got the trunk and the majority of the branches out, almost all of the pine needles decided to remain in the house. After a rather futile attempt to clean these up with the crappy vacuum cleaner that came with the flat (including the predicatble bag bursting moment and everything) I decided it was high time to go out and buy a new one. For the princely sum of 59.99 I got an LG something or other which looks like a little robot, and handled the job brilliantly - my carpets have not looked so clean since I moved in.
The rest of the day was pretty uneventful - made a Mexican dinner (Quesadillas) and spent the rest of the evening watching telly mainly. Chie had previously recorded a film called Ghost World, which I actually really enjoyed, although it was one of those films where at the end you sort of feel like nothing has happened.
Chie very efficiently cleraning the edges there.
