Occupation: Relieving Officer
Comments: There is an entry in the GRO indices for Jan/Feb/Mar 1862 for the birth of a Charles Cousins Hare (Sheppey volume 2a page 659). Sheppey is the district that covers Sheerness.
In the index entry for his marriage to Elizabeth his middle name is spelt Cousens rather than Cousins.
Aged 39 at the time of the 1901 census, his birthplace is recorded as Kent Sheerness.
He also seems to appear in the 1881 census, his age recorded as 18, living with his parents and brothers and sisters.
Spouse: Elizabeth Sarah Milner (Married 14-Sep-1886)
Children: Florence Hare, Louie Hare, Charles Hare
There is an entry in the GRO indices for Jul/Aug/Sep 1886 for the marriage of Elizabeth Sarah Milliner (Sheppey, volume 2a page 1305). Also in the same page appears a Charles Cousens Hare.
At the time of the 1901 census the family were living at 2, Winstanley Road, Sheerness.
There are two entries relating to the couple on the following webpage:
http://home.freeuk.com/g7iau/cards/eh.htm
...apparently taken from local newspapers:
HARE CHARLES COUSENS DIED 1923 JUNE 13TH AGED 61 ALSO HIS WIFE ELIZABETH SARAH HARE DIED 1950 27TH AUGUST AGED 87 MI.HALFWAY CEMETARY.
HARE CHARLES COUSINS 3RD SON OF STEPHEN, m ELIZABETH SARAH MILLNER, ELD DAO OF LATE MARK,ALL OF SHEERNESS. 1886 SEPT 14TH BETHEL B/TO
Again we see the usual ambiguity in the spelling Cousens/Cousins, but it seems almost certain these entries refer to the same person.
In addition Milliner seems to be spelled incorrectly in the above (Millner), but this may simply be a transcription error.
