Comments: There is a record of a christening for Herbert William Breed on the 26th September 1869 at Saint John, Penge, Surrey, England.
Aged 11 at the time of the 1881 census, again his birthplace is recorded as Penge.
Aged 21 at the time of the 1891 census, at which time he is still living with his parents. His occupation is entered as Grocer's Assistant, and his birthplace is again Penge.
Aged 31 at the time of the 1901 census, His place of birth is recorded again as Penge, and his occupation "Traveller On Coin Journeygoods", whatever that means.
From talking to Blanche's great niece Cornelia, it appears that "uncle Herbert" may have followed in his father's footsteps and taken up floristry as well at some point.
Spouse: Blanche Isabel Hawkins (Married 1895)
Children: Wilhelmina Mary Breed
At the time of the 1901 census the family were living at 47 Hurstbourne Rd, Lewisham, London.
Herbert and Blanche's marriage appears to have been recorded in the GRO indices for Apr/May/Jun 1895 (Portsea volume 2b page 951).
