Still pretty muddy. Kicked off the day with the English National Opera, then enjoyed the Divine Comedy, then had a bit of a break before Belle and Sebastian. A bit later on, went for another Square Pie, watched a bit of Muse, then went to bed.
10:03:20 I rather enjoyed Simon's "Administrator" wellies. |
10:11:07 Well Sunday started off looking fairly promising - so far no real sign of rain... Here we all are lurking around the campsite before heading out for the day. |
10:12:50 Chie took this, and inexplicably seems to have opted to include a lot of sky as well. |
12:15:53 The first act of the day for us was the English National Opera who were doing the Ride of the Valkyries... which was entertaining... for a bit. |
12:41:52 After a while we wandered off in search of lunch. I wanted to capture here the fact that this field was "quite muddy". I hope this comes across OK. |
12:42:11 The same thing again, but with me instead of Chie. |
12:51:46 For lunch, we decided to go for "La Grande Bouffe", having heard it had won an award or something last year. We had the golden potatoey thing, which was actually very nice, but I could tell already a second lunch would be required at some stage. |
13:16:08 Chie and those flags I'm so fond of. |
13:16:22 Me and the white flags. I actually think this has come out rather well, what with the clouds in the background and everything. |
13:16:56 Yet more flags really. |
13:27:35 Next on our schedule was a wander over to the Other Stage to see the Divine Comedy. En route, I had a sudden hankering for a cold beer. Whilst there, I thought it pertinent to get a picture of the beer machine, at the back of the bar. |
13:27:42 Chie enjoying some nice cold Budweiser (TM). |
13:28:11 Me, bins, mud, and beer. |
14:02:39 The Divine Comedy in full swing... |
14:02:56 ...and very enjoyable they were too. |
14:13:03 Lovely. |
15:14:22 After the Divine Comedy, we returned to La Grande Bouffe, where David and Simon sampled the sausagey version of the lunch we'd had earlier. |
16:34:17 We then decided to return to our tents for a bit to have a nice sit around and a bit of a drink. Unfortunately this plan was quite literally pissed on, when the clouds burst and it started to rain really very hard. Simon, as you can just about see here, deserves a medal for continuing to sit outside with grim determination, while the rest of us receeded in a cowardly fashion back into the recesses of our tents. |
17:17:17 The rain let up a bit, and the rest of the guys decided to go and watch some more bands or something. Chie and myself were a bit lethargic however, and decided to hang around the campsite for a while longer. |
19:25:04 We did however drag ourselves out of the tent again for Belle and Sebastien, who I have to admit I really enjoyed. |
19:25:13 A picture of the sky behind the Other Stage, during Belle and Sebastien. It looks lovely and blue, but don't be deceived! Shortly after this the clouds burst again, and we were all drenched royally. |
19:53:53 However, the rain did let up again towards the end of Belle and Sebastien's set, and we were even treated to this rainbow, which I thought was very fitting. |
20:12:30 After Belle and Sebastien, we went for another wander, and I decided to get some more mud and crowd pictures. |
20:15:37 ...more of the same really. |
20:15:49 As the sun was starting to set, we were casting really long shadows, which Chie wanted to get a picture of. |
20:30:11 As a kind of starter for dinner, we went and got some miso (apparently) soup, which wasn't that marvellous, but passed the time at least. |
20:40:10 The sign here on the right, which sadly you can't quite read in this picture, reads: "I work here, ask me shit". Genius. |
21:15:41 Those flags again, and a bit of a sunset in the distance. |
21:23:27 Bizarrely there was a sky diver in the air over the site. |
21:23:57 He or she was pretty low at this point, so must have landed somewhere in the festival. One way to avoid paying for a ticket I suppose! |
21:36:07 For the main part of dinner, we couldn't resist a return visit to the unfailingly excellent Square Pie. Bizarrely, I decided to take a picture of the bins outside first though. |
21:36:12 Here we go, the wonderful Square Pie. |
21:42:43 I think this was the Roasted vegetable - probably not my favourite of the three available vegetarian pies, but still very nice nonetheless. |
00:01:14 Well, after Square Pie we watched a bit of Muse and then decided to call it a night and head back to the tent. I think Chie was trying to get a picture of the fireworks here, but predictably as soon as we got the camera out they stopped... |
00:01:28 ...still got a bit of the moon in here instead, which is nice. |
