11:59:38 This lamp here was designed by Lorenzo's sister, and made by Lorenzo's mother's boyfriend. It is really rather superb. |
12:58:38 A book entitled "The Cooking of the Elves", from which Lorenzo's mother very kindly finds vegetarian recipes to cook for me. As it was Easter Monday we were very kindly invited to join in on the traditional family meal, which I didn't get any pictures of. It was very good though. |
14:56:56 After lunch, Lorenzo took us to Fiesole, from where we could get a great view out over Florence. |
14:57:04 ...so as you can image I took lots of pictures... |
14:58:35 Chie and Lorenzo laughing about something or other. Probably being offensive towards the English. |
14:58:44 Lovely - very Japanese! |
15:00:02 Another nice picture Lorenzo - thanks! |
15:00:45 I rather like this one - the olive branches immediately in the foreground, the hills in front of that, and then the sprawl of Florence. |
15:01:19 It's hard to make out, but trust me the Duomo is in the middle of this picture. |
15:04:00 There's a monastery just behind where we were looking out over Florence, which Lorenzo decided we ought to quickly investigate... |
15:06:06 Apparently, this is the actual cell of St. Bernard, as in the bloke those dogs are named after. |
15:06:48 Lorenzo wanders down the corridors which were the former stomping grounds of our 'Bernie. |
15:07:09 Who is behind that door? |
15:07:42 The courtyard, which reminded me ever so slightly of monasteries in Japan. |
15:56:04 Back at Lorenzo's house, Chie makes a fuss of Beos. |
15:56:31 What a lovely cat! |
16:49:19 This here is inside the Duomo, unfortunately we couldn't get right underneath the dome itself, so there's lots of other bits in the way... |
16:50:00 ...very nice bit of painting and decorating there... |
16:50:08 The rest of the interior, in case you were interested. |
16:50:41 A zoom in on the artwork. A bit blurry unfortunately... |
16:51:12 Lovely. |
17:34:38 A plaque marking where a Mafia bomb killed a little girl a few years ago. It's very sad - they included a poem she had written a few days beforehand. |
17:45:23 Is that a Bonsai tree in the little whole above this street sign? |
21:01:25 Lorenzo's friend Federico, in the Pizzeria del Tito (or something like that). |
21:01:42 Me and Chie, and some of the rest of the clientelle in this packed restaurant. |
21:04:10 My pizza wasn't actually that great - the Ortolana. It was a bit bland. |
21:04:24 Chie's (very blurry picture) - an Asparagus pizza, was very nice indeed, however. |
23:11:23 After dinner, we naturally went to another Irish pub. |
23:12:00 Mmmmmmm Italian Guinnes... |
00:02:39 As it happened, the pub was in Fiesole, so we were right back in the same spot we'd been in earlier on. A good opportunity to try and get some pictures of Florence by night... |
00:05:07 I think this one was probably the most successful. It was a 2 second exposure, which seemed to be aboout right for the job. |
00:08:26 This one wasn't so great. |
00:10:26 Lorenzo also took advantage of my mini tripod to try and get some long exposure shots. |
00:29:18 Back at Lorenzo's house, standing on the roof. Not a wonderful picture, but I was pleased that I could also see the Duomo from here... |
00:30:06 ...and again with a slightly over the top long exposure. |
00:31:24 ...and again... |
00:34:19 Chie in Lorenzo's mother's attic. |
00:46:09 Lorenzo sitting in a chair. |
00:46:54 The cat again. |
