This is a random picture taken from the station in Kinshicho, where we went to have lunch.
14:57:56
The famous big lantern in Asakusa.
15:22:44
Just round the corner from the big lantern, a very traditional Japanese bar called Kamiya, famous for an evilly strong drink called Denki-Bran.
15:23:00
Me with some Denki-Bran.
15:23:03
...and again.
15:43:18
Just over the river from Kamiya Bar is the world headquarters of the Asahi drinks company. In the background you can see a slightly odd sculpture which is sort of the logo for Asahi, but rather unfortunately is often referred to as "the golden turd". Chie is clearly embarassed and therefore hiding from the camera.
15:43:37
The other side of the river had a "Water Bus Boarding Place", where we'd be getting on a boat a little later on.
15:44:52
A failed attempt by Chie to get a picture of me.
15:45:25
There follow some very juvenile attempts to take silly pictures...
15:45:51
Here it appears to be protruding from Chie's nose...
15:47:08
...and here I'm being poked in the eye by it. Ouch!
15:47:12
Just about right - good work Chie!
15:55:23
On the top floor of the Asahi HQ is a rather nice bar, with a good view out over Asakusa.
15:55:33
...a view back over the river.
15:55:56
Lots of buildings and stuff.
15:57:18
Clearly Asahi Super Dry had to be the order of the day (like they'd sell Kirin or Sapporo!).
15:59:54
A train snaking over a bridge.
16:08:33
I think you can just about see the tall buildings of Shinjuku in the distance here.
16:14:58
An attempt at a self-timer shot of the two od us.
16:15:37
...hmmm probably a bit better than the first one.
16:19:11
You can see down to Bar Kamiya, where we were earlier, in this picture.
16:33:49
Next item on the unplanned intinerary was a boat trip, from Asakusa down to Hinode. So here's Chie on the boat. Again she seems to be hiding from the camera a bit!
16:34:56
A random picture of a bridge and some of the wash from the boat.
16:35:13
This probably isn't the world's most scenic river cruise, but still, it was pleasant enough nonetheless.
16:43:45
Me and Chie on the boat.
16:45:27
You can just about see an office of The Yomiuri Shimbun (a right wing newspaper) here - scary.
16:45:49
Chie on the boat again.
16:48:45
A very blurry picture of a nice looking suspension bridge.
16:51:15
Yes, I believe my secret bridge-geek status is becoming obvious!
16:51:22
Some rope.
16:54:30
I like this picture actually - the rather dismal weather lends a moody (or perhaps gloomy) feeling to it.
16:56:03
More bridges and buildings basically...
16:56:42
A boat with a cute drawing of some fish on the side.
16:58:28
You can see Tokyo Tower in this one.
17:03:16
The Rainbow Bridge over there (doesn't look very rainbow-ish until it is lit up at night).
17:03:32
...same thing again.
17:03:46
I think this is as we're pulling into Hinode Pier.
18:43:26
Later on, dinner in Shinjuku. We actually managed to find somewhere relatively nice for a change.
19:41:13
After dinner, whilst walking through Shinjuku station, we were both surprised to find a vending machine selling flowers...
19:41:34
2000 Yen - about 10 quid.
