Seeing the girls off at Leicester Square so I could help them onto the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow with their bags.

The last time the three of us would be together for over a month!

A little later on in the day I got the train down to Dorchester.

Taken from the bus which took me from Dorchester to Cerne Abbas.

The bus went down some very narrow lanes. Also note I had the whole bus to myself!

The Royal Oak, the pub I went to the last time I was in Cerne Abbas, which alas closes on Tuesdays apparently, so I couldn't revisit this time round.

I decided to take an early evening stroll up Giant Hill. Here's a pleasant stream I passed en route.

I didn't fancy anything on offer in the local pubs for dinner, so instead decided to cook atop Giant Hill. As I had ice cubes with me (to chill the wine) I scattered a few around the stove as an extra defense against any grass catching fire.

Looks a bit of a mess (meals cooked in billy cans usually do!) but this was actually quite nice - tortelloni with Dorsey Blue Vinny cheese and Hampshire (I think) watercress. A meal I improvised from what was available in the Cerne Abbas village shop, but I thought it rather good.

In this setting, having the local wine (and properly chilled thanks to great efforts on my part) was divine.

I thought this door of a house in Cerne Abbas looked rather evocactive. Reminded me a bit of Venice actually.

The Giant Inn, where I went for a night cap, although I think I concluded I preferred the Royal Oak.
