Sunday 06 November 12:00
A test picture I took whilst walking along, as I'd had to buy a new card for my camera, and wanted to make absolutely sure it worked.
Sunday 06 November 12:06
Pike Place Market - mainly taken to highlight the differnce between today's and yesterdays weather!
Sunday 06 November 12:07
Same again, just look at that lovely blue sky!
Sunday 06 November 12:12
A random picture taken whilst walking down Harbour Steps towards the water front.
Sunday 06 November 12:29
A very quick lunch before getting on board our boat. We had fish and chips - Atushi had the fish and I had the chips.
Sunday 06 November 12:52
Our boat for the day is the one on the left hand side (the Goodtime III).
Sunday 06 November 13:06
On board the boat now, just as it was leaving the pier, a view back to the tall buildings of Seattle.
Sunday 06 November 13:06
...and the same again, without the back of the boat in view.
Sunday 06 November 13:06
Another view of the buildings of Seattle, this time including the famous Space Needle.
Sunday 06 November 13:07
Close-up on the skyline including the Space Needle.
Sunday 06 November 13:13
Another panorama of Seattle's buildings.
Sunday 06 November 13:13
...and again.
Sunday 06 November 13:16
I thought I'd give portrait a go to see if it made any difference.
Sunday 06 November 13:22
As Chie's Dad is a fan of big industrial boats, I thought I ought to take some pictures of them as we passed.
Sunday 06 November 13:23
Seattle behind us with a bit of the wake of the boat in shot.
Sunday 06 November 13:23
Same again with a lot of the wake of the boat in shot.
Sunday 06 November 13:23
Can you see the plane there?
Sunday 06 November 13:24
Another big ship taken for Chie's Dad.
Sunday 06 November 13:25
...yet more industrial shipping!
Sunday 06 November 13:26
I rather like this picture of yet another ship - something about the angle of it.
Sunday 06 November 13:26
The highrise buildings of Seattle starting to sink off into the distance a bit now.
Sunday 06 November 13:43
Not much to see here apart from sea and sky!
Sunday 06 November 13:43
In theory you can see mountains in the distance (the Olympics?) but a bit hard to pick out in this picture.
Sunday 06 November 13:44
Some kind of yacht race was taking place.
Sunday 06 November 13:45
Just sea and sky really.
Sunday 06 November 13:46
A nice little sailing boat bobbing about on the sea.
Sunday 06 November 13:50
Me enjoying huge lungfuls of sea air, flavoured with a little Glenlivet from the ship's bar.
Sunday 06 November 13:56
A fishing boat.
Sunday 06 November 13:58
Atsushi with the sea behind him.
Sunday 06 November 14:00
Another fishing boat.
Sunday 06 November 14:28
Taken as we were going through the lock, that marked the boundary between fresh and sea water.
Sunday 06 November 14:36
From here on a change of character took place - less maritime and more riparian.
Sunday 06 November 14:36
There were so many boats along this stretch between the sea and Lake Union...
Sunday 06 November 14:37
...really lots and lots of boats, and we were also still being treated to wonderful blue sky.
Sunday 06 November 14:37
A fairly big boat. Note here the yellow and black ring floating in the water around the boat - apparently this keeps in any oil spillage, and helps to keep the water clean.
Sunday 06 November 14:38
A view of the top bit of our boat with - of course - the star spangled banner flying.
Sunday 06 November 14:38
Another big boat.
Sunday 06 November 14:39
There must have been several thousand boats in the marinas that lined this stretch of water.
Sunday 06 November 14:39
A couple of very luxurious looking boats.
Sunday 06 November 14:40
More boats really...
Sunday 06 November 14:41
A very nice wooden boat.
Sunday 06 November 14:41
Hmmm yet more boats.
Sunday 06 November 14:42
A nicely colour co-ordinate set of boats - maybe all part of the same fleet...?
Sunday 06 November 14:42
...and a few more.
Sunday 06 November 14:56
Apparently our boat only just clears this bridge - they have to bend the flag down to get under!
Sunday 06 November 14:56
No wake!
Sunday 06 November 14:57
The next bridge we went under was a rather fine specimen - I'm sure IKB would not have turned his nose up at this too much.
Sunday 06 November 14:57
Lovely.
Sunday 06 November 14:57
Next to the bridge the house boats began.
Sunday 06 November 14:58
More house boats.
Sunday 06 November 14:59
A view back to that rather nice bridge.
Sunday 06 November 15:01
More house boats etc.
Sunday 06 November 15:01
Within these house boats is the one used in Sleepless in Seattle, apparently.
Sunday 06 November 15:02
There it is - the one with the green-ish roof.
Sunday 06 November 15:02
There it is on the left again.
Sunday 06 November 15:02
I thought I ought to take a few pictures just to make sure I got it in.
Sunday 06 November 15:05
Almost at the end of our journey now, we finished at Lake Union. You can see some of Seattle's highrise buildings again here, including the Space Needle over on the right hand side.
Sunday 06 November 15:14
A boatplane coming in to land - fantastic!
Sunday 06 November 16:35
Back on dry land, in a microbrewery pub...
Sunday 06 November 16:36
Here's me with some brewery equipment behind me.
