Saturday in Lyon
Saturday 31st March 2012
Got the train from Paris to Lyon in the morning, spent the afternoon wandering arounf Lyon, then met up with Junchan and Arnaud in the evening.
Paris and Lyon
The Arc de Triomphe, as seen from a taxi as we were hurtling round the famously chaotic roundabout which surrounds it.
Me on the TGV to Lyon.
The buffet car on the TGV. It was quite lively.
Chie in the buffet car.
Chie having a nap in one of the very comfortable seats in first class.
In Lyon now, walking from the station to our hotel. Lots of concrete here.
Having a stroll around the town, me on one of the many bridges.
Some rather nice blossom outside this cafe.
In Zone Verte, where we had lunch, there was this handy chart explaining whcih fruit and vegetables are in season at which time of year.
A bit of street art.
In the Passage de l'Argue, an interesting combination of shops selling mostly either hats or knives.
Chie outside one of the knife shops.
Ville sans Pub ville d'avenir.
A magenta letterbox.
We came across a sort of festival procession.
A bit hard to tell what the theme was, if there was one at all.
Terre adelice, where we had some rather nice ice cream.
Me enjoying the violet ice cream. Probably the only culinary highlight of the trip!
Heading up some steps to take us up the hill to the Basilica.
Views out over Lyon.
More views out over Lyon.
The other side of the Basilica.
The funicular we took to go back down the hill.
One of Lyon's metro lines.
Junchan and Chie making gyoza in Junchan's flat.
