How to Spot a Savile Row Suit
Saturday 5th November 2011
I took some pictures thinking I'd write an article on how to spot a bespoke suit.
London November 2011
Buttonhole on a normal suit.
Buttonhole on my Savile Row suit - 2.7cm - I doubt the difference is that notable.
On the reverse of the lapel, a piece of thread used to hold a flower in place.
Working cuff buttons.
My non-bespoke suit - no thread on the reverse of the lapel.
The labels are hidden inside the pockets on a Savile Row suit.
....and yes they spelled my name wrong here! They promised to change it if I pop in at some point.
Labels are more visible on normal suits.
Normal suit trousers have belt loops.
The crown of the sleeve is slightly raised on a Savile Row suit.
Not so much on an ordinary suit.
No belt loops on bespoke trousers.
...instead this kind of fastener.
Chie took this picture in the taxi on the way back from Hunan, where we went for dinner tonight.
