Sunday on the Heath
Sunday 7th February 2021
To the heath, as always, in the afternoon. Still some snow on the ground and quite chilly today. It was a bit too cold to sit at the barrow for more than a few minutes - the windy was quite icy - so I went and found shelter in the woods.

A 2015 Gevrey Chambertin I'd been given as a present a couple of years ago, which I thought it might finally be time to try.

13:54:48
Only very vague evidence of snow here.

13:56:16
A squirrel eating a nut.

14:01:20
More snow evident here.

14:04:00
The barrow, looking rather grey.

14:09:43
Me at the barrow, feeling the cold a bit.

14:17:32
I decided to head away from the barrow, which is rather exposed, and seek shelter in the woods.

14:17:43
More of this odd effect of snow on the trunks of trees - as though somebody went at it with a spray can.

14:27:43
A very Ent-like tree.

14:28:06
Snow on this branch.

14:35:51
The little stream in the woods.

14:40:08
I sat under the branches of this pine (?) tree in a sheltered spot by the river for a little while, it was certainly a bit warmer here than the barrow.

14:47:33
My feet, in amongst the leaves.

15:37:13
The spot where I say for a while.

15:49:30
Heading back past the barrow again, which had a light dusting of snow on it.
