12:37:34Andrew came along too, and persuaded me to get a first class ticket for the journey there. It really wasn't worth it other than perhaps this brief stint in the First Class Lounge. This room was apparently created for Queen Victoria.
12:38:31Me in the lounge.
14:24:38The weathe forecast had been pretty bad, but I was pleased to see some unexpected bright spells on the train on the way there - which was unfortunately quite delayed. So I took these in case by the time we got to Avebury the glimpse of good weather had already passed.
15:18:47As it happens though there were still blue skies on arrival in Avebury, which was a real treat.
15:24:08View of the stones in the nice late afternoon light.
15:24:25The sun setting through these trees.
15:28:07Me and the sunset.
15:31:38Part of the West Kennet Avenue. There's Andrew.
15:31:54One of the stones of the avenue and the sunset. I think this is a rather nice photo.
15:32:23Me and the stone.
15:38:02More sunset shots.
17:13:18It turns out the Red Lion was unable to provide any food this evening. I was fine as I had brought along stuff to cook in a hedge somewhere. Andrew however hadn't brought anything along, and was planning to stay in a bed and breakfast nearby. So I bought him one of every bar snack they had behind the bar to prevent him from starving. He subsequently complained that the peanuts gave him digestive issues. There really is no helping some people.
17:37:10Dark now! I may have been heading to find a spot to spend the night. Not really sure where this is.
18:57:53Tried a bit of night photography from the hedge where I had chosen to spend the night. You can just about see some stars through the branches here.
19:52:48More attempts at astrophotography through the hedge.
20:14:51My dinner tonight - porcini risotto - this was very good!
20:15:37Great pairing with the Gevrey Chambertin I brought along.
21:55:53Silly picture of me sitting in the awning of my tiny tent.
22:19:02Here I am in my tent now, good night!
