Emirates Air Line and East London
Saturday 8th December 2012
First time on the Emirates Air Line - the cable car crossing the Thames at North Greenwich - and also did a bit of exploration of East London.
London December 2012
I bought a holly wreath this morning, so thought I'd take a picture of it as we were heading out.
On the tube, I excitedly took a picture of this new section of the TFL network we'd be going on today.
In North Greenwich tube station.
Some shots of the Millenium Dome...
....can you see the people climbing up it?
First glimpse of the cable car.
I was surprised how high it was!
Waiting to get in the cable car.
Taken from inside the cable car.
I rather like this picture of Chie and Erika (in her little strawberry hat) enjoying the view.
A picture of the three of us kindly taken by the people we were sharing the cable car with.
The North side of the Thames.
Nice sky today.
The Millenium Dome as seen from the cable car.
Almost at the other side now.
At Canning Town DLR station.
Interesting door knocker on Narrow Street.
Walking along the Thames with Canary Wharf in the background.
The Prospect of Whitby.
Chie and Erika in the Prospect of Whitby.
The view of the Thames from just outside where we were sitting.
Me, Erika and our pub lunches.
My vegetarian fish and chips.
Me and Erika.
Chie and Erika.
We thought since we were in the area we'd pop into the Brunel Museum.
I rather liked this little suspension bridge style bench.
Inside the museum.
The Brunel Museum, formerly the engine house of the Thames Tunnel.
View along the Thames from near the Brunel Museum.
A late coffee at the Wilton Way Cafe in Hackney.
I liked the lamp shades in this cafe.
Another picture of the interior of the cafe.
Erika and Chie in the cafe.
Sunset from Hackney Central station.
In the evening, when we met up with Chie's friend Christina and her husband Vassilis.
Same again but with Chie and me having swapped places.
