An Early Morning Walk Through Dunstable and Luton
Sunday 21st August 2022
Slightly surreal end to my mini overnight adventure, with a walk through Dunstable and Luton - including the fascinating "Guided Busway", then a train back home from Luton. Spent most of the rest of the day trying not to fall asleep on the sofa.

First light, and the lights of Dunstable (and possibly Luton?) down below.

Attempted to take a selfie but you can barely tell it's me.

Quite a nice sky here I thought.

Packed up and on my way now.

05:35:03
I think this is the point where I parted from the Icknield Way, and headed for a slightly surreal early morning walk through Dunstable and Luton.

05:43:26
At the most dramatic moment of the sunrise I was walking through this somewhat uninspiring part of Dunstable. Should have stayed on the hill a bit longer!

06:24:21
Decided to follow the "Guided Busway" to Luton station, which had a cycle path beside it, and was therefore presumably also pedestrian friendly.

06:25:09
I found the "Guided Busway" rather surreal - sort of halfway between a bus and a tram service.

06:39:19
Crossing the M1.

07:27:09
Made it to Luton station. Unfortunately about an hour to wait for the first train back home (not sure whether there's always such a late start on this line on Sunday mornings or if this had something to do with yesterday's train strike).

07:36:27
I went for a wander around Luton in the hope of finding some breakfast. Not much open at this time on a Sunday, but I did, for the second time on this trip, see some camels.

08:18:14
Back at Luton station to get my train. The long wait for it aside, it was a great service - direct all the way to Kentish Town.

Having spent most of the interim daytime back at home, half falling asleep on the sofa, in the early evening I decided I needed a gin and tonic to "buck me up" as Vera would have said.
