12:05:15 Managed to cut myself on a bit of plastic, so put one of Erika's Hello Kitty plasters on it. | 14:32:42 More rain today. Very welcome it was too. | 14:32:54 Video of the rain in the back garden. | 18:22:03 The car looking a lot happier after the rain. |
18:33:35 It looked as if autumn was starting already. Apparently this is a phenomenon which can happen after a heatwave, followed by rain or cooler weather, which seems to confuse the trees into thinking the seasons are changing. | 18:40:40 I was hoping for an atmospheric and damp sort of evening on the heath - and more to the point without the usual crowds I'd got use to on Parliament Hill of late - but as it turned out the skies were clearing by this evening. | 18:40:41 | 18:41:13 Acorns. |
18:45:05 I think the threat of rain had successfully put the crowds off though, and at least at this point of the evening it was fairly quiet atop Parliament Hill. | 18:45:09 | 18:45:50 Not my wine bottle! | 18:48:46 The woods, probably quite relieved to have had some rain. |
18:52:01 Heading over to the barrow. | 18:54:38 The view from the barrow. | 18:54:53 This evening's wine, a Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru "Lavaux St Jacques" from Domain Tortochot. Quite a complex wine, with spice, tobacco, dense berry character, slightly leathery, and a bizarre note of sweetcorn (never found that before)... Eventually the sweetcorn gave way to mushroom, so I assume this was some kind of Brettanomyces influence. | 18:54:59 |
19:21:40 | 19:47:46 Nice sky through the trees atop the barrow. | 19:49:49 More of that pleasant pre-sunset sky around the barrow. | 19:50:49 |
19:57:19 Just a handful of people on top of Parliament Hill now. | 21:02:14 Oddly seems I didn't bother taking any photos around sunset, so just a few night time shots of the London skyline from Parliament Hill to finish on. | 21:02:20 | 21:23:59 |
