Successful Barbecue
Saturday 25th April 2020
A much more successful barbecue than the previous one this evening!

Although also ants...

10:47:25

10:47:26

10:47:56

10:48:24

10:50:09
Taken by accident presumably?

10:50:35
More ants.

10:50:45

10:52:06

10:55:27

13:06:15
A bit like a forget me not?

13:06:20
Not sure what this is.

13:13:14
First sign of apples!

13:14:55
Inflorescences on the grape vines.

13:15:14

13:24:02
Flowers on the blueberry bush.

13:24:57
A fly.

13:57:24
Erika doing some nature photography with the tripod.

13:57:52

14:01:07
The garden tap, of which I am inexplicably fond.

14:12:36
Bluebells.

14:13:23
Bay leaf.

14:13:44
Erika's pink watering can.

14:14:39
Gnomezilla.

14:17:43
Self timer shot of the three of us.

14:31:25

14:31:32
A bee on the bluebells.

14:31:37

16:47:46
The "bonus" bottle I had ordered along with the two still Pinot Noirs for Welsh Wine Night yesterday - I thought this would make a good barbecue wine.

16:59:57
It was summery and lovely.

17:08:03

17:08:17

17:08:53
Kept in the shade under a cloth to avoid the peril of light strike!

17:49:14
Lit the barbecue.

17:49:17

18:06:49
Burgers and a leek.

18:11:58

18:18:15
Halloumi and peppers.

18:18:19

18:55:56
We had eaten by this point but wanted to do something with the residual heat, so put some potatoes on to bake, an onion and a kettle pot to boil.

19:08:40

19:17:31
I thought the kettle might do better placed directly on the coals.

19:31:34
Erika eventually opted to go inside and watch some telly, but Chie and I were keen to stay outside and continue to play with the barbecue.

19:55:21
Baked potatoes. These worked pretty well.

20:11:12
Eventually I got out my Biolite stove and transferred some of the remaining charcoals into it.

20:12:29

20:17:34
Interestingly this produced a decent heat for boiling the kettle, but charcoals don't produce flame, so it didn't really generate any electricity presumably because the heat probe is a bit too high up.

20:42:26

20:42:30
Still it was very nice to sit there with the warm glowing coals.

21:33:33
Still glowing nearly four hours after lighting the barbecue!

21:41:00
Er?

21:42:33
Some attempts at astrophotography. These are always going to be challenging with all the light pollution in London but I don't think this is entirely awful. I like that purple-ish woosh, whatever that is.

21:48:35

21:53:10
A streetlight adding some interest here.

21:57:33

22:22:12
Astrophotography with the vines in the foreground.
