Potters Bar to Radlett
Saturday 21st April 2018
Walked a stretch of the Hertfordshire Way from Potters Bar to Radlett - if anything a bit too warm for walking today!

10:32:06
Just after arriving at Potters Bar. The cap was necessary to keep the sun off and the sunglasses for the hayfever (although that quickly disappeared within a short while of getting out of London). I look a bit suspicious here.

10:35:25
The first bit of the walk went through a sort of industrial estate in Potters Bar, not the most scenic.

10:36:17
...but was helped along by some pleasant blossom etc.

10:36:23

10:38:06

10:38:30

10:39:06

10:40:46
Forget me nots?

10:40:50

10:41:40

10:45:26
Passing through farmland now.

10:49:45
More of these flowering hedgerows.

10:49:48

10:50:29

10:51:58

10:52:58
Passing under the A1 (M) here.

10:53:15

10:54:36
There it is.

10:58:29
Bit blurry.

10:59:59
More open fields. In hindsight should perhaps have taken a detour to take in a bit more woodland, the open fields eventually got a bit tedious.

11:01:02

11:01:16
Are these left over apples on the tree?

11:01:57
Dandelions abound.

11:03:57
Interesting lichen.

11:06:34
More flowering hedgerows.

11:08:10

11:09:04
Hard to focus.

11:09:14
I think this was a dead ladybird.

11:14:16
Passed this pub but it was too early to stop for refreshment.

11:15:14
So I plodded on.

11:17:12
On the outskirts of South Mimms here.

11:17:51
More footpath signs.

11:21:25
About to go under the M25.

11:22:32
Novel place to put a footpath sign.

11:23:20
The people driving on the M25 never get to see this.

11:23:23

11:27:16

11:27:50
A ford.

11:37:26
Bluebells.

11:37:46
A monument I passed.

11:41:52
More flowering hedgerows.

11:44:31

11:48:45

11:59:34

12:03:21
More bluebells.

12:05:47
Horses in a field.

12:06:44

12:06:53

12:12:15
Surprsingly large expanse of flowering meadow here.

12:15:03

12:16:08
Bluebells.

12:16:14

12:17:37

12:19:05
Perhaps the nicest floral display of the day here - forget me nots (?) intermingled with dandelions.

12:20:52

12:21:36

12:33:44
These flowers obviously not wild.

12:36:40
A pile of rocks.

12:37:06

12:38:12

12:41:54

12:42:02

12:42:46

12:45:24

12:45:31
Some kind of cherry blossom?

13:15:14
Finally reached my lunch stop, the Orchard cafe.

13:17:24
I discovered a Full English breakfast is perhaps not the ideal food for the middle of a reasonably long walk, but for some reason despite the hot weather this is what I wanted to eat.

13:45:19
Feeling rather bloated I waddled off and continued on my walk.

13:45:58
Woodhall Spinney.

13:46:36
Bluebells.

13:46:48

13:47:48

13:54:49
It's nice to see signs like this as a walker and know they don't apply to you.

14:00:11

14:27:40
Another ford.

14:28:33
Under the railway bridge which I'd be going over later on.

14:28:43
Lime deposits?

14:33:59
A funny track made of broken up bricks.

14:45:13
Finally got to the outskirts of Radlett, and what I considered to be a well deserved pub break.

14:47:34
The Cat and Fiddle was a little gem of a pub.

14:47:58
Lots of booths and nooks and crannies.

14:48:05

14:48:28

14:48:41

14:49:05

15:05:52

15:06:00

15:28:31
Arrived at Radlett station to get the train back to Kentish Town.

16:28:46
On arrival in Kentish Town I did some shopping with sore feet, including the new Gail's Bakery.

16:29:43

18:25:17
Back in my garden.

18:26:03
Checking on the Alpine strawberry seedlings.

18:26:32
Apple blossom in full bloom now.

18:26:39

18:26:46

18:26:56

18:27:00

18:53:58
Madeleines from Gail's.
