Grantchester and Cambridge
Sunday 9th April 2017
I've had a long running hankering to visit the Orchard Tea Gardens in Grantchester while the apple blossom is flowering, so today we got the train to Cambridge to do just that.

Erika on my shoulders. A lovely day today. Perhaps a bit too warm for tweed!

Unfortunately the camera on my phone failed to save this photo properly, taken on arrival at The Orchard.

The menu at The Orchard, taking as I was queuing to order food.

After a ridiculously long wait in the queue to order food, I finally got back to our table with scones which we ended up eating as a sort of starter because the savoury food would be a further wait.

...and now our main courses have arrived, so our backwards lunch can continue.

Erika took this.

Obviously Erika's patience for sitting at the table eventually expired and she wanted to run around instead.

14:06:15
Yes the apple blossom is definitely out. Although only just.

We cheated on the way back and got a taxi into Cambridge, which deposited us outside Queen's College.

14:59:19
We went on a brief tour of Queen's College, thinking it might perhaps instill some early academic ambition in Erika.

15:01:10
It's rather lovely.

15:21:39
After our tour of Queen's College we went to get ice creams, which we sat in this little park to eat.

15:24:13
We decided to head back home after this - although it had been a fleeting visit to Grantchester and Cambridge it had nonetheless been a lovely one!

Back at home now, where I decided to open the Genovese vermouth I bought there last Octber.
