London to Lisbon
Saturday 20th October 2018
Flew to Lisbon, met Leon and family at Lisbon airport, took a big taxi to our apartment, and then in the evening went for dinner at Coelho da Rocha, which was probably the best meal of the trip.

The sparkling wine we had with lunch was pretty awful - I couldn't finish it - so I went with something safe and ordered some Port instead.

I had done a bit of research beforehand into whether there was any kind of petiscos I would be able to eat - and came up with pretty much this single thing - peixinhos da hortas, which are sort of green beans (runner beans?) tempura. Apparently a dish invented to mimic little fish for people who couldn't afford to eat fish.

Oh and of course there were padron peppers, being on the Iberian peninsula.

This cava came highly recommended on their wine list, and I have to say it wasn't actually bad. Being cava it was of course Spanish rather than Portuguese though.
