Took Erika to the Anpanman Museum in Fukuoka and then got the shinkansen back to Hiroshima later in the day.
Japan November 2014
Erika looking bright and cheery in the morning in our hotel room in Fukuoka.
Erika watching the telly.
Erika eating an onigiri / omasubi.
At the Anpanman Museum now. For the first 30 minutes Erika said pretty much nothing but "Anpanman! Anpanman!".
We were just in time for an Anpanman show, where some of the characters sang and danced on the stage.
Erika clapping along.
Erika playing with some big bouncy balls. Of course Anpanman themed.
Impressive that they also managed to make a sand pit Anpanman themed.
One of the characters in the cartoon (I forget which) runs the school, this is her school room.
A little toy village, including a Koban (police station).
...a house of some description or other.
...an ice cream shop.
...a sushi restaurant...
...and I forget which shop this is exactly, but it had a place you could poke your head into.
Erika's attempt looked a little half hearted by comparison.
The Anpanman car, which has a mobile bakery in it.
Me and Erika driving the car.
Love this picture of me and Erika.
Meeting "Horror man" - Chie seemed quite excited...
....Erika was a bit unsure...
...and eventually burst into tears.
Me consoling Erika after her unsurprisingly disturbing encounter with Horrorman.
A much more successful meet and greet was Batako.
Erika even managed a hug.
...Erika then proceeded to explain to Batako who all these characters in this display were.
I think this is Erika and Batako doing a high five.
Batako listening very attentively to Erika.
Erika on a slide.
Not sure exactly what this thing was meant to do.
Erika on the slide again.
Time to start thinking about lunch...
Erika's lunch - Anpanman themed udon.
This is an Omasubiman omasubi.
The packaging for Anpanman inari sushi.
Anpanman themed inari sushi.
Once Erika had eaten the face from her Omasubiman omasubi she seemed to lose interest in it.
Quite nice packaging for the chopsticks, I thought.
Erika's unique way of eating udon.
We stayed for another Anpanman show. This time Shokupanman (my favourite character) made an appearance.
Erika watching Currypanman.
Erika on a bigger slide.
The end of the show.
As one final treat for Erika, we bought her a balloon. She got up on my shoulders so she could choose one herself.
Love this picture. Erika is clearly the boss.
After all the excitement of the Anpanman museum, Erika dozed off in her buggy, so Chie and I went for a late lunch. This is Hirao Tempura, Ai-san had taken us to another branch of this small local chain on a previous visit to Fukuoka.
Chie looking quite pleased at the tempura.
The tempura chefs.
I seemed to be snapping extra photos each time a new bit of tempura arrived.
After getting the shinkansen back to Hiroshima, here's Chie and Erika on the little connecting train back to Chie's parents nearest station.
