On arriva at Roma Termini.

The fountain in the little couryard of the palazzo wherein our apartment was situated - just off Piazza Colonna.

As soon as we'd checked in to the apartment my thoughts immediately turned to lunch! I'd found a restaurant serving Roman cuisine just a short walk away - Il Falchetto - and on arrival we were greated by this delightful display of porcini and ovoli mushrooms.

Next stop, the Pantheon - I didn't take any pictures inside on this visit as it was a bit crowded, but we went back again later in the trip.

Next, gelato at apparently the oldest gelateria in Rome - Giolitti.

Next, the Trevi Fountain.

I was pretty pleased with this mid air shot of the coin Erika was throwing into the fountain.

The crowds of tourists were pretty off-putting, but if you can filter them out I did find this to be a really impressive monument.

Next, more tourist onslaught - the Spanish Steps.

I thought we'd perhaps try and do an "al banco" (at the counter) aperitivo at Caffe Greco nearby, but this really doesn't work that well if there's four of you and you're not just ordering a Negroni.

Back at the courtyard for our apartment now, nicely lit up for the evening.

It had been a long day, and as we'd had a proper sit down meal for lunch we decided to just get takeaway pizza for dinner and eat at the apartment. So I went to pick some up from this little hole in the wall place.

It was quite nicely decorated with these curved walls that gave it a cosy, cave like feel.
