Sunday in Florence
Sunday 23rd October 2011
Spent the day in Florence doing lots of touristy stuff, before getting on the sleeper train to Paris at the end of the evening.
Again in Lorenzo's new place, where we helped him to move another couple of boxes.
Lorenzo very begrdudginly paying for the tram.
One of many churches in Florence, none of which I remember the name of.
Walking through the streets of Florence.
Lorenzo said this church was originally a barn?!
Inside the ex-barn.
The little delicattesen where we bought sandwiches for lunch. I rather like this picture.
Some porcini outside a restaurant. Apparently it has been a bad year for porcini so far, so we weren't convinced these were real.
...and there it is, the Duomo.
Eating our sandwiches beside the Duomo.
Me in front of the Duomo.
The Palazzo del something or other, which is the town hall in effect.
A standing coffee at Rivoire. This was very good.
The courtyard inside the Palazzo, which is rather impressive too.
The famous boar statue.
There's a department store which has a tiny roof terrace cafe offering an impressive view of the Duomo.
Now in Vivoli, which Lorenzo had previously introduced to us as the second gelateria in Florence.
So we could remember the name of the street that Vivoli was on.
Another church I forget the name of.
Apparently Chie remembers this square well from the very first time she came to Florence as a student.
A creative bit of graffiti.
Presumably this canopy can be made to cover this courtyard.
Views from the Ponto Vecchio.
Ponto Vecchio, with all its jewelry shops.
I liked this sign.
The bar where we had aperitivo - Negroni of course.
A building I liked the look of.
The little square where the restaurant we went for dinner was.
First course at Quattro Leoni, a kind of torteloni with pear in.
Second course, some kind of pasta with porcini.
The river by night.
Saying goodbye at the station in Florence.
Getting on to the sleeper train to Paris.
Chie cleaning her teeth on the sleeper train.
In the corridor on the sleeper train.
