Went to stay on Burgh Island.
Devon July 2019
First glimpse of Burgh Island from the car!
After parking the car.
What an amazing spot.
We went to drop off our bags while Erika played on the beach with Grandad, Janie and Jess. This is Chie in the ballroom.
Me outside the hotel.
The hotel and the Pilchard Inn seen from where Erika was playing on the beach.
Jess having an explore.
Dad and the Pilchard Inn.
Chie and Erika exploring rock pools.
It was a bit windy!
In the Pilchard Inn now for lunch. Erika had this rather impressive chair and I tried to get a picture of her in it but she didn't want to be photographed.
Our table in the Pilchard Inn. A very nice little alcove.
Note the hat stand.
After lunch we waved goodbye to Dad and Janie who got the sea tractor just after the tide had met across the beach.
...and now Burgh Island was a proper island once again.
Zoomed in on the sea tractor the other side.
As it had started to rain outside, we decided to have a spot of afternoon tea while we were waiting for our room to be ready. Erika's interpretation of afternoon tea was ice cream!
In the billiards / snooker room.
In our room now, the Eddystone suite.
Me looking nicely coloured coordinated.
The bedroom in our suite.
Our suite was very good for hide and seek!
The view from our balcony.
Me and Erika sitting on the deckchairs on the balcony.
Erika in our room, looking mischievous.
We went to have a look at the Mermaid Pool. Sadly not warm enough on our visit for a swim!
Having a wander round the grounds of the hotel.
The beach house - would love to stay there one day.
The three of us with the hotel in the background.
Another view of the beach house.
Lovely clifftop floral display.
The clouds looking a bit threatening here.
The Pilchard Inn.
Erika and I went for an early evening drink in the Pilchard Inn while Chie started getting ready for dinner.
Erika in what I think is probably the best spot in the pub.
Although that other nook there is also pretty special.
Me sitting in the window, taken by Erika.
Me and Erika in the Pilchard.
The Sea Tractor coming across.
Erika at the entrance to the hotel.
Chie ready for dinner.
Erika in the Palm Court where we went for a pre-dinner aperitif.
Nice picture of me and Chie taken by Erika with her trademark finger in shot!
I liked the reflection of the skylight in this mirrored tabletop.
Erika and her mocktail.
Erika's tooth came out on a canape!
They had Camel Valley on the menu, which seemed like an appropriate choice as we were not far from Cornwall!
Raising a glass to the sea, it was starting to look a bit stormy out there.
Chie and Erika's in the Captain's Cabin, where we ate dinner.
Erika showing off the gap where her tooth was, and looking appropriately piratey given the nautical setting.
Picture of our table taken by the waiter.
I went out on the balcony of the restaurant for some sea air.
Back in our room after dinner where we finished off the Camel Valley.
...trying to get a nice picture of the slightly stormy sea and the wine.
Erika writing a letter to her friend.
Also we left a note for the tooth fairy!
Night time view from our balcony.
